India is moving closer to establishing a domestic civil aviation manufacturing base with plans to develop India's first indigenous 100 seater aircraft in Gujarat. The proposed manufacturing facility is to be located within the Dholera Special Investment Region, where authorities are in the process of finalizing land allocation. A formal announcement is yet to be announced soon, which would officially position India in the regional aircraft manufacturing segment.
This initiative reflects a strategic shift from operating aircraft to building long term manufacturing capabilities within the country.
